Detailed Review : After 6 months of use I''ve found the following problems with this bow: 1) My use of light weight arrows has placed the bow and all its screws under greater shooting shock;· heavy arrows take more of the shock with them, whereas light arrows tend to slowly shake your bow apart. The cable guard and cam screws have all had to be tightened a couple of times, which is really bad. 2) The cable guard and it''s silly little slider just don''t give enough clearance for high profile vanes, such as "hunter" and "blazer" types. This has been really annoying, with my beautifully fletched hunting arrows yawing through the air because of vane contact with the cables. Really annoying. I even shattered the slider and dangerously strained the cams, trying to shove the cables as far over as possible for maximun clearance, but it''s still not enough! Sounds bad eh. But I persevered, and recommend the following remedies: a) Once all your accessories are in place, loosen them off slightly, apply "lock tite" or a similar non-permanent glue to the threads, then tighten fully. Do this to the cam screws as well. I''ve done this, and even shooting light arrows I don''t have to worry about screws coming loose any more. b) Accept the bow won''t have enough cable clearance due to it''s short axle design, don''t strain your bow trying, and fletch your arrows with low profile soft vanes (such as "duravanes"), or even better, use feathers. I know, feathers are really old school, but they work so well. When water-proofed with the white powder stuff, they''re fine in any weather. All that fussing makes you wonder why I bother, but I still like this bow. Once all the screws are "locked" down and the arrows are fletched to the bow''s eccentricities, it''s a very simple and fun bow to shoot using finger release and gap aiming.

Title : very neat bow for generic group use
Detailed Review : I bought a 29 lb Discovery for three reasons: 1) Family and friends are so different in sizes I keep having to change the draw on my other compound bows, which is totally impractical and wears out the screw threads;· 2) Over half my family and friends can''t draw my compounds even when they''re turned right down because they''re too wussy;· and 3) Shooting bows on my own is dead-set boring, and most people I know whilst interested to have a shot every so often are not prepared to fork out $600 for their own bow and arrows. I''ve found the Discovery is very well made, with excellent serving on the string and cables (a previous cheap Taiwanese bow de-served after only a short period of time). The lack of a draw-stop means you shoot it much like a recurve, but it''s got about 50% more power than a similarly weighted recurve, thanks to the mechanical advantage of the cams. It shoots well, is light, surprisingly powerful for the draw weight and is not excessively noisy. The Discovery takes all the usual accessories and may be better shot with a release aid due to the short axis, which does cause a bit of finger pinch;· even so, I don''t use a release aid or any sights with it because all these accessories detract from the ability of anybody else to just pick it up and shoot it (you have to adjust sights for each user, which once again will quickly strip screwthreads and takes ages stuffing around). The only accessories I''ve fitted are string silencers and a bow-mounted quiver. I also got a dozen 30 inch light-weight carbon arrows so my tall mates can shoot it, but the arrows remain light and fast for the short shooters too. So I recommend this bow for groups, fitted with no major accessories and using long arrows so tall and short people can use it.........or..........by growing teens who will mostly solo use the bow and can thus benefit from sights and release aids that don''t need to be constantly adjusted for a miriad of users, and have arrows just the right length for maximum efficiency. Alternatively, if you''re looking to shoot light poundage bare-bow but are dissapointed with the low power of light recurves and longbows, the Discovery would be a good way of beefing up your arrow speed without breaking your arms and back on a heavier bow.
